Why does Jason think this course would be of value to you as a watercolour painter ?

This course aims to build up your confidence to explore more adventurous interpretations of landscape painting, by promoting an environment of adventure, where experimentation with compositions and colour are encouraged and undertaken by all, so that traditional realism becomes the exception rather than the rule. So, if you are willing to risk moving your art away from realism for ten weeks of fun experimentation, then this is the course for you.

Artists like John Piper, David hockney, Goergia O’keeffe, John and Anne Blockley and Kurt Jackson have pushed at the boundaries of traditional landscape watercolour painting to amplify the use of pattern and abstraction. On this course you will be shown ways that these artists and others have broken free of realistic interpretation of landscape so that you to can create something original aand beautiful.

What will youdo on the course?

Look at several quirky ways to compose landcapes.Explore using personal mark making and planned colour palettes to indivisualise your work. Analyse the work of past and present landscape artists who have created different, but effective lanscape artwork. Crearte a series of sketches and finished artworks on a landscape theme.
